Meet our founder

Hi, I’m Maya Bialik. I started QuestionWell as a middle school science teacher looking for a way to be more time-efficient in lesson planning. My husband and I created this tool when he saw how long it took me to painstakingly write questions and input them into Canvas and Quizziz. He and I have been working on QuestionWell since February vacation 2023. The vision for QuestionWell is to blend academic excellence with practical utility.

Throughout my teaching career, I began to see how existing tools always miss the mark because they aren’t listening to teachers. Throughout my research career, I saw how principles of teaching and learning were not being embedded into EdTech tools because they weren’t reading the research.

As a founder, I am integrating my three years of experience in the classroom with my ten years of experience in education research, tech, PD, and policy to create a tool that supports teachers’ existing superpowers and expertise with a AI designed around sound learning science principles.

I am committed to pushing the limits of AI and Education, first exploring the possibilities in my 2019 book, Artificial Intelligence In Education, and now conducting research as a doctoral student at Boston University. I want to create tools that are not just useful for teachers, not just effective for learners, but also backed by and contributing to research!

Use your favorite student reading, video, doc, pdf, image, or website as source material for the AI. This will help make the classroom materials tailored to your exact content.
 
This is optional, but of course, the more details you put into the AI, the more tailored it can make your questions, reading, and vocab! Just click on the box next to "based on" to give it content.

2. Customize Your Output with Standards, Language, and Reading Level
 
Choose standards to have the AI write materials that align with those standards. You can see if we have your standards here. If not, email us this template and we’ll add yours! By default, the AI will write Learning Outcomes for your questions and align them automatically.
 
Adjust the reading level, language, and question types to differentiate the learning materials for your students.

3. Add the Teacher Touch: Choose High Quality Questions To Help Your Students Learn
 
Just scroll through and check the box of any question you’d like to include. Thumbs up or down questions to help us improve the AI.
 
The questions will correspond to the highlighted parts of the reading and the yellow highlights will turn blue once their question is selected. Click on the highlights, video, or little play button next to each question to go to the corresponding section.
 
You can edit the questions and/or answers by clicking on them and typing. Change which answer is correct by hovering and clicking the green checkmark.

5. Let AI Write the Reading: Simply put in a topic and AI will write student-friendly reading at a given lexile level.

 

If you do not paste in reading or select a source for it to pull text from, the AI will write the reading for you. You can also export the reading for students to read! Don’t forget to adjust the reading level and language, and edit the reading as necessary.

6. Create Interactive Videos and See Student Progress on a Live Dashboard
 
Choose a youtube video to make interactive by adding time-linked questions. Create a shareable code that students can use to watch the video and answer questions at the appropriate timestamps.
 
No login required! Students will enter a 6 character nickname (it should not be their name) and we will collect no student data. See our Privacy Policy here and Our Pledge here.

7. Reformat Existing Questions: Upload Your Quiz or Paste in your Questions, then Export to Any Format
 
Do you have all your questions in one format and need them to all be in another format? Simply paste in your questions and they will be imported into QuestionWell. You can then export to any other format you’d like.

8. Export Reading and Vocab, not just Questions!
 
With our Google Slides templates, you can export the materials into useful student-friendly formats. QuestionWell is no longer limited to questions! Export the Student Reading and Vocabulary too! Simply click on the Export button for the section you’d like to export.
